You’ve built the company, the practice, the career that reads well from the outside. You’ve sat across from investors, boards, clients — closed the deal, made the case, held the room.
Almost none of that required you to feel good in your own skin.
Ambition doesn’t leave much time for the body. You’ve optimized your calendar, your pitch, your team — but the relationship with your own body has mostly been managed, not lived in.
Built Different is a pause on that pattern: an intimate morning of crop-top cutting, real conversation, and celebrating the bodies that got you here, for gay and queer men of color who’ve built something real and are ready to build a little ease, too.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A small, intentional group — never a crowd, so nobody’s performing for an audience.
A simple, guided crop-top cutting technique — just scissors, no sewing, no prior skill required.
Real conversation about body image among men who don’t need the context explained.
A room of founders, leaders, and creatives who understand exactly what “having it together” has cost you.
Something you made yourself to walk out wearing.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Founders, senior leaders, and creatives — gay and queer men of color who’ve spent years building everything except ease in their own skin. Men who can command a boardroom or a client call but haven’t sat in a room where their body, not their output, was the subject. This is for the ones ambitious enough to have built something real, and honest enough to admit the body got left out of the blueprint.
Not a crafting hobby. Not a body-image support group. A working session for people who build for a living, doing something with their hands that isn’t performance, output, or optimization.
